There are special days which bring lifelong enjoyment, opportunity and satisfaction. For me such a day developed in the fall of 1972, a few days after leaving the US Army where I served for three years as an orthodontist in Japan and South Korea. As I was walking Main Street, Stillwater, looking for a space to open my practice, I met O. Walter Johnson, a friend of my parents and future Rotary District Governor, who asked if I would like to have lunch with him at the Stillwater Rotary Club. Accepting that invitation and subsequently becoming a Rotary member made it my special day.

Happily looking back on fifty-three years as a member of this club, I recognize and appreciate its' members and the services it can provide to our community and our world. Paul Harris, in founding Rotary, recognized it is more than a weekly lunch. Rotary is a community of like-minded citizens who have and are still active in their attempt to improve quality of life both locally and internationally and are pleased to meet for a meal.
Serving as Stillwater Rotary president in 1980 with 100 members was a highlight. Our club's initiative to create a fund for an operating room at the Selian Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania, stretched our vision and finances which made our club better. I have learned much from examples set by members of this club.

Calling the St Croix Vally home for 75 years may not be noteworthy, but Sandy and I thoroughly enjoy living along this beautiful river and its' valley where we  raised our three children. We approach each day with expectations to experience God's wonder and also wish it for you.
