Angie Hong coordinates the East Metro Water Resource Education Program, an education and outreach program hosted by Washington Conservation District. Angie discussed water quality in lakes in Stillwater. She gave a statistic that 40% of Minnesota's lakes are impaired but 49% of Washington County lakes have improving water quality. In Stillwater, Lake McKusick is one of a few lakes in the entire state to be removed from the impaired list due to improved water quality.
Road side cleanup is scheduled for Thursday, May 9th at 5:00pm.
A signup sheet was passed around at the meeting. Please see Patty Radoc if you are interested. Vests and bags will be provided. Please bring your own gloves.
Our club will again be hosting an inbound Rotary Youth Exchange Student for the 2019/2020 school year.
The club will be hosting a student from Mexico and we are looking for 3 host families.
Rotary provide training and support for the host family, as well as a counselor and monthly allowance for the student. We pay for school lunches, a cell phone plan and some school activities. The host families are responsible for providing room and board. You do not need to have a high school student at home – empty nesters and parents of younger children are often great host families.
Please contact Lori Johnson if you have questions or are interested in hosting.
