I grew up in Stillwater two blocks from where Tracey Galowitz grew up.. My first job was at Hooley‘s meat market. I then moved up to pumping gas at Stenseng and Fierke petroleum. After graduation from Stillwater high school, I attended the UW River Falls and the University of Minnesota school of business. During my summers, I worked at Andersen Windows and the Northern Pacific railroad.
In the summer of 1968, I graduated from the University of Minnesota and married my wife, Jeanne. I then went to army flight school where I became a helicopter pilot. I was sent to Vietnam, where I flew helicopter gunships. After returning from Vietnam, I returned to Andersen’s and flew helicopters in the Minnesota National Guard. I had a great career at Andersen’s. and retired after 37 years as senior vice president of operations.
Jeanne and I we’ll celebrate 58 years of marriage on June 15. We have two adult children and five grandchildren.
I became a Rotarian 1994 and have enjoyed it very much over the years. As many of you know when I retired Jeanne and we spend most of our time in Florida.

Don’t give up skiing for golf. Skiing will enhance your soul. Golf will torment you for the rest of your life.

Lee shared with us her exciting times working in both TV and Radio. She worked for many radio stations both local and in the greater Twin Cities area. Lee was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2023. Below is a clip Lee shared with us that gave her more than a minute of national (and beyond) fame.

Rotary Board Meetings
Rotary members are invited to attend our Board meetings. We meet the second Tuesday of each month at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater. We meet in the lower level. Planning a District or Global Grant for 2026–27? District 5960 has released the full schedule of required trainings, workshops, and grant deadlines. District Grants are due May 29, with review dates later that month and in June.
Thank you to Patty, Bob, Molly, Bev and Lois for serving dinner at Stepping Stone on April 16th. Thank you Katie for setting this volunteer opportunity up. The residents were all very pleased with the Meatloaf Dinner.
Salvation Army Bell ringing
Thank you, Amanda, Bob, Kim, Steve, Lois, Dave, Scott, Bev, Patty, Jonathan, Tracey and Katie, for taking the time to ring the bell for the Salvation Army on 12/10/25
During our bell ringing shift, we raised $1,088 for the Salvation Army! That’s 3x more than last year – but we had frigid cold and wind last year.
Roadside Clean Up

Stuff the Bus
THANK YOU to Patty, Sharon, Tom, Lois, Katie, Amanda, Bev, Clare and Sam (Clare’s son) for packing 40 backpacks for United Way’s Stuff the Bus campaign. They helped ensure that local kids would have all that they need to succeed on the first day of school. Service above self in action!
