When I was a lot younger, I was inspired to be involved in service organizations by my father (who was a Lion) and by Franklin Raduenz (D.J.'s father) who was a Rotary member.  Years later, I joined the Stillwater Lions and ultimately became its president.  City Attorney Dave Magnuson, who was a Rotary member, subsequently mentioned that I could be a member of Stillwater Rotary at the same time as the Lions.  I joined Rotary in 2009 and had the honor of serving as our president (2015-16).   As for events, some of the fall and winter activities - especially those arranged through the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce -  have been the most fun.  In addition, I am the incoming District Governor for the Minnesota and the Dakotas (MNDAK) Kiwanis District, another premier service organization.

Oksana and her girls are doing well.  Masha is a Sophomore and Varya is a Senior this year.  Varya is working and Masha joined the Girls Swim & Dive Team again.  Oksana continues to be employed and is excelling.   The family recently took a trip to Miami to visit friends and see the Atlantic Ocean.  They had a great time and Oksana said that the ocean reminded her of home – Odesa.   As a reminder, Oksana and her girls are in the United States through the humanitarian parole program Uniting for Ukraine (U4U).  The program allows for parole for two years, unless the war is still ongoing.  Their humanitarian parole status would expire on October 11, 2025.  Because the war is not over, and due to the uncertainty about whether the current administration will review applications for continued parole, Oksana is working with an immigration attorney to seek asylum.   Her case has been approved and is pending a hearing.   Because of this, they will continue to be in the United States legally, even past October 11^th.  The support from our club and Sunrise has allowed us to pay for the legal expenses related to her asylum case.   Thank you for your support!
