Last Week's Program
Steve Scallon, MD, of the Stillwater Medical Group spoke to us about Children's Health.
Fast For Hope
Today's meeting is our annual Fast for Hope program.  Our meal will be soup and bread; the difference in meal price along with the Sergeant at Arms collections will be donated to Fast for Hope.

Attendance and Make-Ups
About a third of our members have 100% attendance.   We know it can be difficult to make it to our meeting every week; you can receive make-ups for meetings in two ways:

1. Attend another Rotary meeting. Whether you are on vacation or in a different part of the Cities, you can attend any club. You will pay for your meal there and receive a make-up slip. Bring that to club, and you will receive a credit on your next bill as well as an attendance make-up.

2. Participate in a Rotary service event such as bell ringing, Hockey Day Rotary tent volunteer, Lake Elmo tutoring, STRIVE program, etc. Come to club and make a note that you volunteered, and you will receive an attendance credit.

This is a great way to showcase what our members are doing and allow you to work toward a 100% attendance pin at the annual picnic in June.

Silver Sobriety
Last year Silver Sobriety did a program for the club.  They are now looking to fill three board positions.

Silver Sobriety silversobriety.org is a startup nonprofit in Stillwater whose mission is to provide older adults with affordable recovery services for alcohol and drug addiction.   They are located in the Industrial Park near Stillwater Motors, and are searching for volunteers for three Board positions:
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Board Member with skills to lead the Marketing Standing Committee
Positions call for attendance at 4 Board meetings/year and 12 Standing Committee meetings per year.
If interested, please contact Marge Sagstetter.  Thank you!

Cogwheel Connections - Rotary Convention
Are you still on the fence as whether to attend this year’s Rotary International Convention in Atlanta?  What are you waiting for?!
  • It’s the 100th Anniversary of The Rotary Foundation so it’s going to be a great party!
  • It’s a great opportunity to interact with Rotarians from all over the world!
  • Atlanta is the closest and least expensive the Convention will be for several years!
AND
  • BILL GATES HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED AS ONE OF THE KEYNOTE SPEAKERS!  He’ll make comments on how close we are to finishing the job of eradicating polio.  Bill Gates doesn’t speak to groups like this often, and it’s a great opportunity to see him speak about Rotary and the good we do!  He’ll join many other great speakers, such as Jack Nicklaus and many more.
  • WE’RE HAVING A DISTRICT PARTY! We’ve alluded to it before, but now it’s official!  District Governor Jim Hunt and myself will be hosting a District Social Event on Saturday late-afternoon from 4:30-6:30 at the Marriott Marquis.  This will be a great way for you to get your feet under you and interact with other Rotarians from our District on the Convention’s opening eve.
  • The Convention’s preregistration discount ends on March 15th.  If you register after that, you’ll pay the $490 that is the same you’ll pay if you register when you get to Atlanta.    For more details and registration visit:       http://rotary5960.org/showDoc.cfm?pObject=618&pMenuTop=602
